The Boat Landing Guest House sets an exemplary model for sustainable and community-based tourism in Laos. It is also the most comfortable base for tours in the region, but should also be enjoyed simply for its idyllic setting on the banks of the Nam Tha River just a short drive from the pretty town of the same name.

Accommodation is simple but excellent, the charming collection of bamboo and wooden bungalows with spacious outdoor terraces bungalows are scattered throughout lush tropical gardens and each is fan cooled and has a veranda with stunning river views. Electricity is generated by solar panels. The open veranda restaurant serves northern Lao cuisine and includes tastes and flavours that you may not find on any other menu. Here you can sample the traditional dishes of the people of Luang Nam Tha. They also have an extensive vegetarian menu.

Many guests use Boat Landing as a base to explore the nearby Nam Ha National Park and take excursions in to the surrounding villages, go fishing with locals, take cycling trips or go kayaking or rafting. Or simply come here to truly get away from it all and live the local life at a slow pace.
